Marijuana based vodka is now selling shops in the U.S, but it’s not the same ‘Green Dragon’ that your uncle used to make in his closet.
Humboldt County, C.A is world renowned for its marijuana production, so it’s not much of a shock that the Humboldt Distillery would go for a cannabis infused vodka. Due to California law however, the Humboldt Distillery has to use hemp that has less than 0.3% THC. So, that’s not enough to get you high, but the 40% vodka will definitely get you drunk.
So, it’s not going to get you high, so why bother? The owner, Abe Stevens, explains:
“It does, however, retain an herbal and aromatic quality reminiscent of fresh cannabis, and we’ve found it works very well in place of gin, giving classic cocktails a fresh new spin.”
“As the vodka has grown in popularity I’ve found more and more consumers asking us to add some of the ‘local flavor’ to our alcohol, Stevens said in a press release. “That obviously wouldn’t be legal for us to do, but I couldn’t ignore the consumer demand. My solution was to come up with a compromise that captures a bit of that character without breaking any laws.”
The vodka is available in 750-ml bottles for $29.99, and is now being sold in California and Colorado.
