A marijuana grow was prematurely burned in a Foxfield garage on Sunday.
South Metro Fire Rescue firefighters were called to a smoking two story garage on Yampa Street at around 2:30 p.m. They quickly extinguished the fire and contained it to the building, which is about 30 feet from the nearest house.
“The job of any firefighter is to do a very thorough search to see if there are remaining victims or fires. In the course of searching the building, they saw marijuana,” said Eric Hurst, a public information officer with South Metro Fire Rescue.
Hurst was unable to specify the cause of the fire, how many plants the house contained or if the grow was licensed or not. Investigators from the fire department and the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the fire to determine its cause and other circumstances surrounding the grow operation.
